Each year, thousands of teenage girls in the US embark on fulfilling a dream by earning their Girl Scout Gold Award. They lead efforts to make good things happen in their communities and beyond, from making sure neighborhood kids have a safe place to learn and read, to creating robotics programs for hearing impaired participants, to advocating for gender balance in politics, they take their passion and leadership skills and use them to make the world a better place.   One of the 2014 Girl Scouts of the USA Young Women of Distinction, Varsha Sathappan explains both the motivation and perseverence it took to accomplish her goal of establishing a women's ward at a rural hospital in India.
