Today I chose to walk into town for my weekly religious service instead of driving. I could have ridden my bike, but I wanted to slow down after a busy week and spend time observing the natural world that is along my route. I checked on the nesting osprey, noted the level of the river during this spring thaw season, said hello to a neighbor out raking his lawn, and arrived at my destination with a clear mind.
The only thing I had to remember to do is leave an extra 25 minutes so that I could leave my house in enough time to be on time at my destination. I have resolved to take that walk every Sunday all summer long.
