My son visited us not long after we moved to Calais. He is a gourmet cook and foodie extraordinaire. We wanted him to experience the best of locavore, so we took him to Waterbury to Hen of the Wood. He was skeptical that Vermont would satisfy his refined palatte with locally source food. Imagine his surprise when he consumed what he still contends was the best meal of his life! He is a convert and is now convinced that Vermont can exceed his foodie expectations.
Food Challenge #5
Tell a story of one of your favorite Vermont local food experiences.
Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive. - Barry Lopez
Eating locally food is better for a whole heap of reasons, but it's not always easy. Sharing stories helps us build community, and gives us the chance to learn how to incorporate local food into our lives.
- Pick a Food Category: Procuring/Growing/Eating/Sharing
- Check out our resource tips on the elements of a good story and why eating local is important.
- Tell YOUR story. Make it memorable, meaningful, funny, or moving. It should be one you want to tell - and one you'd want to hear.
