Finally had a chance to go to the store to get some LED bulbs. And of course, they only had ONE 60 watt bulb left! So I am going to check online to see if I can buy them there, since the price was better than I'd seen elsewhere.
Above & Beyond Energy Challenge
Replace at least one light bulb and convert it to a LED.
Who said this?
This challenge was created by remy.schulz from Team Endeavour.
LED (light emitting diode) bulbs last an average of 50,000 hours, as opposed to incandescent bulbs, which last about 1200 hours. They also use 6-8 watts of energy as opposed to incandescent bulbs, which use 60 watts or more. Using them also means you'll emit 10x less carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses.
- Find an incandescent bulb out there in the world (your home/school/business/favorite cafe/friend's house)!
- Replace it with an LED (easy to get at a hardware store). If you don't have the cash for an LED bulb, see if you can convince a bunch of friends to chip in 50 cents or a dollar for a bulb.
- Take a before/after photo!
- You might even be able to get a local hardware store to donate a couple of bulbs to the cause if you thank them in your Moment of Play!
Don't have the dough for a bulb these days?
That's ok! Make a poster showing why LED bulbs are so much better than any other kind of bulbs and hang it where it can be seen by lots of people!
