Ice Cores, Climate, and Your Wallet

Date

Thursday 4/30 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Location

Howe Library, Hanover, NH

Climate scientist Mary Albert will speak about her work on ice cores drilled from the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets and temperate glaciers, which provide evidence of past climate that allow us to view the present in the context of times before human influence on the planet. Ice cores also provide evidence of the impact of economics and policy on the environment since the start of industrialization.  Current climate change is primarily caused and exacerbated by our dependency on fossil fuels. A look around reveals that hope for mitigation may arise from economics in this time of opportunity! Sponsored by the Upper Valley Sierra Club and SERG.
